  • Substrate for microbial collagenase (MMP-1). Enzymatic cleavage of Z-GPGGPA yields Gly-Pro-Ala, which is determined colorimetrically by reaction with ninhydrin. Z-GPGGPA can induce metamorphosis in larvae and asexual buds of the Cassiopea species of jellyfish in vitro at micromolar concentration.
