论文表示，在小鼠胰腺beta-细胞内特异性敲除Ig20/Madd基因可导致小鼠持续高血糖，该小鼠胰腺beta-细胞形态学及小鼠对胰岛素的敏感性与野生型小鼠没有明显差异。正常小鼠胰岛beta-细胞受葡萄糖刺激时可分泌胰岛素，但Ig20/Madd基因敲除小鼠的胰腺beta-细胞受葡萄糖刺激时胰岛素无法分泌到血液中发挥调控血糖的水平。
